Attached you can find two photos of 289 from my own collection. I do
have some extra ones from a recent visit, taken by a friend of mine, but
since he is a modeller, they are close ups (like a walkaround), so
I think these two are the best ones.
I took the photos in November 2004, few days after the transfer of the
aircraft from Elefsina to Tatoi. The aircraft was disassembled and the main
piece shown in the photos was transferred by a Skycrane (unfortunately I
asked some of my friends but couldn't find photos from that transfer - it
sounds extremely interesting!!!!). The original purpose of the transfer was
to exchange this aircraft with another one from a foreign museum. Two
years later I don't have any news about a possible exchange, so I assume
that it was cancelled, or at least delayed. The fact is that as you have
also noticed the parts of the aircraft are still at Tatoi. Note that
this aircraft has some extra antennas, compared to the typical Greek
Hu-16's, since it was an early EW platform. It was the last Hu-16 that flew
with HAF and it bears the name "Phaethon".
